The wealth management firm’s subsidiary plans to introduce Numa SIF, expanding its investment offerings under SEBI’s specialised investment framework.
Nuvama Asset Management Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Nuvama Wealth Management, has received approval from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to establish and launch a Specialised Investment Fund (SIF).
In a regulatory filing dated October 19, Nuvama Wealth Management confirmed that its asset management subsidiary had received approval under the SEBI (Mutual Funds) Regulations, 2026. The approval clears the way for the company to introduce a specialised investment platform and offer SIF products.
Nuvama to Launch Numa SIF
Following the regulatory approval, Nuvama Asset Management plans to launch Numa SIF, a dedicated platform through which it intends to offer specialised investment products.
The company has not yet disclosed the investment strategies it plans to introduce or provided a timeline for the platform’s launch. Further details regarding the proposed offerings are expected to clarify how Numa SIF will fit into the company’s broader investment management portfolio.
The approval marks an expansion of Nuvama Asset Management’s product capabilities into a category designed to provide investors with access to more flexible investment strategies within a regulated framework.
Understanding the Specialised Investment Fund Framework
Specialised Investment Funds are a category introduced by SEBI to provide asset management companies with greater flexibility in designing investment strategies than conventional mutual fund schemes, while remaining subject to regulatory oversight.
SIFs are positioned between traditional mutual funds and Portfolio Management Services (PMS) in terms of investment flexibility and minimum investment requirements. The framework allows asset managers to offer strategies suited to investors seeking alternatives beyond conventional mutual fund products.
SEBI introduced the SIF framework in 2025, with a minimum investment requirement of ₹10 lakh per investor across SIF strategies, subject to applicable conditions and exemptions.
A New Avenue for Investment Product Expansion
The approval provides Nuvama Asset Management with an opportunity to broaden its investment product portfolio through a specialised fund structure. The platform’s eventual positioning will depend on the strategies, investment objectives and products the company introduces.
As the SIF category develops, asset managers may use the framework to offer differentiated investment approaches to eligible investors. However, Nuvama has yet to announce the specific strategies or product features planned for Numa SIF.
The next milestone for the company will be the formal launch of the platform and the disclosure of its proposed investment offerings. Until then, the regulatory approval establishes the foundation for Nuvama Asset Management’s entry into the specialised investment fund segment.
