Mumbai: IndusInd Bank has appointed Gireesh Kunnathattil as Head – MNC & GCC Coverage, strengthening its leadership team for the corporate banking segment. With more than 27 years of experience in banking and financial services, Kunnathattil brings a wide-ranging understanding of corporate banking, large enterprises, credit, relationship management, real estate, and infrastructure.
Kunnathattil joins IndusInd Bank with a career spanning several leadership roles across the banking industry. A significant part of his professional journey was spent at Axis Bank, where he worked for more than 17 years across corporate banking and relationship management.
In his most recent role at Axis Bank, he served as Group Head – South, Real Economy Group, where he managed relationships across key sectors including real estate and infrastructure. He also held leadership responsibilities covering large corporates and mid-corporate relationships, with a focus on business development and strategic client engagement.
His experience also extends to credit, where he worked across areas such as credit appraisal, risk assessment, credit sanctions, post-sanction monitoring, and relationship management. This combination of credit and corporate banking experience has given him a well-rounded understanding of the needs of large and growing businesses.
Earlier in his career, Kunnathattil was associated with ICICI Bank as Assistant General Manager – Corporate Banking Group. He began his banking career with State Bank of Hyderabad, building the foundation for a professional journey that has since expanded across multiple areas of financial services.
In his new role, Kunnathattil will focus on MNC and Global Capability Centre (GCC) coverage, an increasingly important area within India’s corporate banking ecosystem. His responsibilities are expected to include strengthening relationships with multinational organisations, identifying new business opportunities, and supporting the delivery of financial solutions tailored to the needs of large enterprises.
The appointment comes as India continues to emerge as an important destination for multinational businesses and global capability centres. As these organisations expand their operations, their banking requirements are also becoming more diverse, creating opportunities for financial institutions to build deeper and more strategic relationships.
With his extensive experience across corporate banking, credit, relationship management, and large enterprises, Gireesh Kunnathattil is well positioned to contribute to IndusInd Bank’s corporate banking ambitions and strengthen its engagement with the MNC and GCC ecosystem.
