Integrated into the Google Pay app and powered by Gemini, the new assistant can analyse transaction activity and provide users with personalised insights into their spending patterns. Users can ask questions about their expenses, explore potential ways to save, and seek explanations of financial concepts through text or voice-based interactions.
The feature is aimed at making everyday financial management more accessible by bringing spending insights and money-related guidance directly into the payments experience. By using transaction information, the assistant can provide context around individual spending behaviour and help users make more informed decisions about their finances.
Alongside the AI assistant, Google has also expanded its Flex credit programme through a partnership with SBI Card. The collaboration is expected to provide users with access to flexible credit options through the Google Pay platform.
