VERTICES PARTNERS Advises First Bridge India on ₹70 Crore Balwaan Krishi Investment

Mumbai-based legal firm VERTICES PARTNERS has advised investment firm First Bridge India on its ₹70 crore (approximately $7.29 million) investment in agri-tech company Balwaan Krishi, operated by Modish Tractoraurkisan Private Limited. The investment forms a significant part of Balwaan Krishi’s ₹100 crore (approximately $10.4 million) Series B funding round.

The transaction comes as India’s agri-tech and farm mechanisation sector continues to attract private capital, driven by rising demand for efficient agricultural equipment and technology-enabled solutions.

Legal Advisory for First Bridge India

VERTICES PARTNERS advised First Bridge India across the legal aspects of the investment, including transaction documentation, negotiations and other requirements involved in completing the deal.

The firm’s team worked on structuring the transaction, reviewing and negotiating documentation and supporting the investment through to completion.

The mandate was led by Vikrant Anand, Partner; Sajal Jain, Associate Manager; and Associates Liji Anna Thomas and Mansi Dixit.

Balwaan Krishi Raises ₹100 Crore

First Bridge India’s ₹70 crore commitment accounts for the majority of Balwaan Krishi’s ₹100 crore Series B round.

The fresh capital is expected to support Balwaan Krishi’s next phase of growth as it continues to operate in India’s farm mechanisation market.

The investment comes amid growing interest in agricultural businesses addressing challenges related to labour availability, operating costs and farm productivity.

Farm Mechanisation Gains Investor Attention

India’s agricultural sector is witnessing a gradual shift towards mechanisation across a wider range of farming activities. Changing farm economics and the need for improved productivity are creating opportunities for companies developing equipment suited to the diverse requirements of Indian farmers.

Balwaan Krishi operates within this evolving farm mechanisation segment, where increasing adoption of agricultural machinery is creating demand for more accessible and efficient equipment.

The transaction also highlights the growing interest of private investors in businesses operating beyond conventional technology categories and serving large, established sectors of the Indian economy.

VERTICES PARTNERS on the Transaction

Vinayak Burman, Founder and Managing Partner, VERTICES PARTNERS, said the agri-tech sector is attracting increasing investor attention as businesses address real-world challenges at scale.

He added that the firm’s focus was to work closely with First Bridge India and ensure that the legal framework surrounding the investment was addressed alongside the commercial opportunity.

Growing Role of Legal Advisors in Growth Investments

The Balwaan Krishi transaction also underscores the increasingly complex legal requirements associated with growth-stage investments.

As investors deploy larger amounts of capital into sector-specific businesses, legal advisors are required to align investment structures, commercial objectives, transaction documentation and sector considerations within a clear framework.

VERTICES PARTNERS’ role in the transaction involved supporting First Bridge India throughout this legal process, from transaction structuring and documentation to negotiations and completion.

Strengthening Agri-Tech Investment

With the closure of its ₹100 crore Series B round, Balwaan Krishi has secured fresh capital to support its next stage of growth in India’s farm mechanisation market.

For First Bridge India, the ₹70 crore investment provides exposure to a sector positioned around agricultural productivity and mechanisation. For VERTICES PARTNERS, the mandate further adds to its advisory work across funding and strategic transactions involving India’s growing business ecosystem.
