Bank of Baroda Enables UPI Global QR Payments for International Visitors

Bank of Baroda has introduced UPI Global Reverse Acceptance, enabling international visitors to make QR-based merchant payments across India using their existing banking or payment applications.

The new facility allows international tourists, overseas Indians and eligible users of foreign payment applications to scan participating merchant QR codes and complete digital transactions directly through their familiar payment platforms.

The initiative is designed to make payments more convenient for visitors to India by reducing reliance on cash and simplifying transactions for those who may otherwise need to exchange foreign currency or use alternative payment methods.

Through UPI Global Reverse Acceptance, participating international payment applications can be used for Person-to-Merchant (P2M) transactions across Bank of Baroda’s merchant network. The facility supports visitors from multiple countries that are part of the international digital payments ecosystem.

For merchants, the initiative expands the potential customer base by enabling them to accept payments from international visitors through familiar overseas payment applications. For travelers, it provides a more seamless digital payment experience while exploring and shopping across India.

The launch reflects the continued expansion of interoperable digital payment infrastructure and the growing role of QR-based transactions in enabling convenient, secure and accessible payments for consumers and businesses.

With UPI Global Reverse Acceptance, Bank of Baroda is further strengthening its digital payment capabilities while supporting the broader adoption of globally connected payment solutions in India.
