Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is set to take over Best Buy’s Global Capability Centre (GCC) in India under a multi-year agreement, with plans to transform the centre into an AI-native capability hub.
As part of the agreement, Best Buy’s India GCC will transition to TCS, with employees moving into TCS’s global organisation. The employees will continue to bring their existing expertise across retail, business and technology to the new setup.
The partnership will combine Best Buy’s retail domain knowledge with TCS’s capabilities in artificial intelligence, engineering and technology services. The new centre is expected to play a role in developing and scaling technology-led solutions for Best Buy’s global operations.
Focus on AI and Digital Transformation
Under the new structure, the AI-native centre will focus on redesigning workflows, developing AI-powered customer and business solutions, and scaling artificial intelligence across Best Buy’s operations.
The collaboration is designed to bring together Best Buy’s specialised retail expertise and TCS’s technology capabilities, creating an India-based hub focused on AI-led transformation and engineering.
The development comes as global companies increasingly expand the role of their Global Capability Centres in India. While GCCs traditionally focused on technology support and back-office functions, many are now being used for advanced engineering, artificial intelligence, product development, digital transformation and innovation.
India’s Growing GCC Ecosystem
The Best Buy-TCS agreement further reflects the evolving role of India within the global technology ecosystem. Companies are increasingly leveraging India’s large technology talent pool and established digital infrastructure to build and scale advanced capabilities for their international operations.
For Best Buy, the transition provides a structure to combine its retail and business expertise with TCS’s technology and AI capabilities. For TCS, the agreement expands its engagement with a major global retailer and adds another AI-focused capability centre to its technology services portfolio.
The transformation of Best Buy’s India GCC into an AI-native hub is expected to support the company’s ongoing adoption of artificial intelligence while highlighting the growing importance of India as a strategic base for AI, engineering and technology-led business transformation.
